This is certainly interesting!
The instruments are ducking away for a kick that doesn't exist (or is mute). It works well though.
I love this track. It keeps on progressing and never manages to get boring or too repetitive imo.
It really has that kind of dreamy vibe to it. I like the chord progression at the end, it's as if the song is saying "Everything is alright now", by ending it on a positive note (literally).

I feel like this track could maybe have a bit more percussive elements introduced. That way it keeps the listener more interested. Now it sounds a bit like a loop rather than a 1-minute track.
Maybe some more background elements introduced halfway would be good.
I don't know the context, is it a soundtrack for a game? What kind of game? Is it meant to be level-music or menu-music? It might work very well in it's context, but on it's own it lacks a bit of extra stuff.

The main elements are pretty good. The drums are punchy enough and the pulsating bass-line works well with it.

Irishtoner responds:

Actually, It's not a Game for this Song. I Put Song For Some Reason,Because I need to put an Animation or Preview.
I Will Change It, But Thank you For Your Comments,

I'm not that up to date on new genres, but I assume Synthwave is a modern interpretation of New Wave from the 80s?

I feel like this would really benefit from those haunting vocals swimming in reverb.

The drums have that characteristic vintage sound to it. It sounds a lot like one of the presets on my Lexicon PCM70 (reverb unit the mid 80s).
I think this would be a very nice track for long train or car-rides. It has that dreamy vibe to it.

I like it :-)

KFV responds:

Hey! Thank u :3

I'm early, I guess. Haha.

I'm happy to hear that classic signature Waterflame sound again. It didn't take long for you to get your own sound, because even back around '05 you had that sound.
But I feel like now in 2018, you've really perfected it into what it potentially could become.

I feel like this leans more on the orchestral side of the spectrum. Going from a happy mood to a more serious mood, back into a more happy mood. It's the classic ABA structure, but the way you go about it is so typically ... "Waterflame".

I know that you used Squidfont back in the day, I'm wondering what kind of libraries you're using nowadays. I'm guessing a lot of third-party Kontakt libraries?

Waterflame responds:

Thanks for the review! :) The orchestral was mostly made with east-west quantum leap stuff. But the flute is actually an old classic, its from edirol orchestral. I used that flute a lot back in the day so I felt like it was the ultimate touch to unite old with new.

I think this would sound even better if you lower the volume before the entire track hits the compressor/limiter, because it will give the track a lot more space to breathe.

I don't know how to describe it, but the background elements really lift me up emotionally. It feels more like it's describing the entirety of an epic journey rather than just one battle. I think it's because of the dreamy strings and piano. It does create an interesting balance though.

Keep it up!

Schematist responds:

Thank you I will go back and mix this track to see if I can hit that sweet spot. Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts!

Okay I did not expect a top-tier track when I clicked on this. I know that this will be one of those songs that I will listen to over and over again when I'm on the train.

The way you compose your leadlines remind me a bit of Malmen.

I'm going to get so addicted to this...

rymdkraft responds:

Thank you! <3 (seeing it as quite the honor if my stuff remind you of Malmen)

Ending sequence. That's what comes to mind. A hero walking home from a long journey.
"Good days ahead"

Yes that would really fit with that type of scene in my head. It has a bit of that melancholic but hopeful feel to it, which I personally really like. I find it interesting how you work with motifs. You're using one building-block of music and using the other instrument to mimic what the lead instrument is doing, which makes it sound coherent.

This will be going on my mp3-player :-)

Ragekaje responds:

Thanks for the review!
Now that you mention it, it definitely has the tone of music that would play for a credits roll, final cutscene, etc. "Ending Sequence" is a perfect description!
I'm not familiar with motifs in music, so perhaps I stumbled into that one. I will have to research what motifs are and add that to my toolkit.
Early in my writing process, all I had was the main melody for the A section and the chords and drums to go with it. I had a friend take a look and she suggested doing a round with the melody, and it worked really well!
Thanks again for the listen and the review, it brings me joy knowing you liked it! :)

Sounds like something from a Commodore Amiga game. Might very well fit in something like Crusader No Remorse or One Must Fall 2097. You're making me nostalgic to an era of gaming that I didn't even experience!

SentinalMusicInc responds:

Haha! Thank you! I grew up during that amazing gaming era, I played One Must Fall 2097 awhile back once! Pretty fun fighting game imo.

Nice concept for something done in 28 minutes.
This could be more interesting if you added some other melodic stuff in the background that is a bit quicker rhythmically-speaking. (maybe 1/16ths)
It would be even more interesting if you introduced something like a hi-hat pattern halfway during the track.

But ... 28 minutes? Man. That's fast!

That's an odd snare, I've never heard it pitched that high. But it sounds pretty cool and it makes space for the other elements in your mix. Some nice work on the hats too. I like the crescendo that the house-like synth keeps making. It's almost as if it's talking to you lol.
I think the intro might be a bit too empty. I think it would be better if you filled it with a bit more stuff to keep the listeners attention, so they don't click away before the drop. (Or maybe shorten it? Idk)

CreatingVoid responds:

Hey, thanks for the feedback! I'll be sure to take a look at the future songs and I'll keep this in mind! Hope you enjoyed!

New songs on the way!
